I grew up on PBS. I had seven stations to watch growing up until my family got cable. I watched all the shows - Sesame Street, Mister Rogers, Yan Can Cook, Lydia's Kitchen, Are You Being Served?, Keeping Up Appearances, etc. I learned so much. I've moved a lot as an adult. The local NPR has always been my go to learn about my new town/city and state. We're losing so much.
Thank you so much for sharing this Sophia! While I love WOSU & WCBE both, I grew up playing and volunteering at Fort Hayes with the team at 90.5, and they are near Nd dear to me.
I loved Sesame Street, even before I can remember-- my mom has told the story countless times of how I'd waddle my way into the living room, turn on the tv, and plop down with my oversize pillow to watch Kermit the Frog, Big Bird and the rest when I was two to three years old. Also loved The Electric Company. Both were culturally diverse, featured art, music, and comedy, and were innovative and adaptive. Many lasting lessons that I carry with me that have served me well.
Mine will forever be Reading Rainbow 🌈 as well. Even now I can hear the song. But Mr. Rogers was a close second. Thank you for all of this and the invitation to engage.
Yes, Sesame Street and Mister Rogers for me too. I'm too old to have had them as a young child (growing up for me was Romper Room and Captain Kangaroo; (I think Lambchop [with Miss Sally?] was around too). But by the time I was babysitting and tutoring as a young teen, Sesame Street and Mr Rogers had come on the scene. Those shows were so gentle and profound. Sesame street was cool, too. I watched them with my children and now I'm singing along with Kermit and the gang as I drive my little 2 year old nanny charge to the playground. The songs and lessons are timeless.

We really are losing so much.
I watched several shows on our local PBS station as a child, but Sesame Street is the one that always comes to mind first for me.
Sesame Street had such a gift for making learning feel like playing.

Fort Hayes and 90.5—what a special connection to have! Thanks for reading Rachael! :D
💙 Mister Roger's Neighborhood
He was the perfect neighbor for teaching us how to care for each other.

What a beautiful picture of early learning! Those shows knew how to meet us exactly where we were—even at two years old with an oversized pillow :)
💙 Had a lot of favorites but Lamb Chop sticks out for me.
Lamb Chop! .... This is the song that never ends
