Kamala Harris: A Momentous Nomination ❤️
What is the biggest news on everyone’s lips? Vice President Kamala Harris is poised to become the Democratic nominee! This is more than just a political milestone; it is a historic moment for representation and progress. We are on the brink of potentially seeing the first Black female and Asian president of the United States. How amazing is that?
This moment is particularly special to me because it answers a heartfelt question my daughter Caroline asked while we were camping a few weeks ago: “Mommy, why has there never been a female president?” You can read more about my thoughts on Harris’ nomination and that poignant conversation with my daughter on my Instagram post here.
Sharing Joy with Nina West 🌟
Speaking of inspiration, I have to share this video from Nina West. It is filled with so much enthusiasm for Harris that it is impossible not to smile. You can watch the full video here and feel the excitement for yourself!
Get Involved: Register to Vote 🗳️
Now, let's talk about how we can turn this excitement into action. The first step is making sure you are registered to vote. It is the simplest yet most powerful way to make your voice heard. So, PLEASE check your registration status and, if needed, get registered right away. You can find all the resources you need at the League of Women Voters.

"We cannot possess hope without practicing it." — Amanda Gorman
I couldn’t agree more with this statement. Practicing hope is key, and it's been one of the many reasons I can persevere when times are tough. Tell me...
📚Book Buzz
How to Know a Person by David Brooks
This was a great read. David Brooks does a wonderful job providing actionable tips on how to have meaningful conversations about issues that matter in a straightforward and practical way. People can be tricky, but this book gives you the tools to navigate these interactions and become an "illuminator" rather than a "diminisher." It emphasizes the importance of truly seeing and understanding others to foster deeper connections and improve our societal interactions.
ImmiGRIT by UKMA
This book does a fantastic job highlighting the need for more diversity and spaces of belonging for first-generation Americans and immigrants. I highly enjoyed it because it provides practical steps for both individual contributors and leaders within organizations to leverage the power and grit of our immigrant workforce. My dear friend Ukeme Awakessien Jeter shows how immigrant leadership, characterized by adaptability, resilience, and resourcefulness, can drive business success and transform company culture.

“Moms who give a damn” … Is this just for moms? Heck yes. But, when I say "moms," I embrace an inclusive and expansive definition of this word. This includes moms of color, single moms, working moms, stay-at-home moms, those who aspire to be moms, and those who don’t. Essentially, it is a broad and inclusive definition that recognizes the diverse experiences and identities of mothers across different contexts and situations. So if you consider yourself a mom AND you care, this is for you... and your friends - sooo.. (wink, wink,) please share.
